Noise Orchestra were commissioned by the HCMF Learning team to deliver a one day electronics and graphical sound workshop for the festival 2018. The participants created their own circuits and designed graphic paper scores. In the afternoon session we created an organic collaborative installation in the exhibition space at the University of Huddersfield that opened to the public the following day.
Working with multiples of modules and co-designing the installation with participants was a wonderful experience and method of creating this immersive reflective piece. Our circuits were designed to produce quiet electronics ticking and whirring sounds encouraging the listener to navigate the darkness and listen closely to the poly rhythms and cross fading shadows from the paper scores.
We were thrilled that the work was featured on BBC Radio 3 programme ‘Hear and Now’.
