We were successful in our application to be one of five selected new arts and tech start up companies for the first ever ‘Artful Innovation’ programme at Pervasive Media Studios, Watershed in Bristol. This week long course was an intensive business development course that looked at your value proposition, defining your target market and create a narrative/story for your business case, interrogate your values and explore your potential business model. The format was a series of seminars led by Stephen Gatfield with industry experts from branding, intellectual property, arts/tech funding and numerous guest speakers and case studies from PMS alumni. The programme culminated in a practice live pitching session in front of investors to gain feedback on our propositions.
Crucial to us was the idea of being sustainable artists whilst maintaining our artistic values and integrity; the programme was good for us to assess what we would potentially be comfortable with a mode of operating. We also heard from some really interesting case studies such as Sensible Objects on kickstarters and setting up as a business from the viewpoint of being an artist
