Visual Scores: Museum Objects and Photoshop

We have started to create our graphical scores using the objects from the Media Museum archives. One object that stood out to us was the Russian photosniper, initially because it was such an interesting object. The process to turn the object into a score starts with photograhing the original object and importing this into photoshop. We then isolate then trace around the object to isolate it as an image so we can work with this. This particular stencil will be printed on acetate, we are looking to create as great an area of contrast as possible so the sound produced from the changing in shadows and light is as great as possible. For this piece i’m going to test out greyscale, so I have layered the image horizontally and used different tonalities to see how this effects the sound when played.
